Horse killed in collision

A horse has died on a Cumbrian fell road after being hit by a vehicle whose driver did not stop, police said.

The gelding, worth £3,000, was struck sometime between Sunday and Tuesday on Cold Fell, near Ennerdale.

The horse was owned by Bradley Stables and was allowed to roam free on the fell. Cumbria Police said it was found by the owner when fell fog cleared.

They said the driver failed to stop or report the incident and are appealing for information.

Police said the horse's owners had raised concerns previously about driving on the fell road.
