Horse rescued from Balby mud

Firefighters came to the rescue of a horse stranded neck deep in  mud in Doncaster.

The stricken horse was discovered at around 11.30am on Sunday 28th on land close to Tickhill Road in Balby.

Edlington firefighters spent several hours trying to free the animal, eventually doing so with the help of harnesses and a construction vehicle driven by local builders.

The owner of the horse was not known, but was being cared for by local equine vets and the RSPCA.
