Horses hit by car on M1

Two horses have died after being hit by a car on the M1 in West Yorkshire.

Six horses escaped from a field near Horbury and went on to the southbound carriageway close to junction 39 at about 05.30 GMT on the 24th November.

West Yorkshire Police said one horse died at the scene and another had to be put down due to the injuries it received.

The driver of a Vauxhall Corsa was uninjured.
