Essex based showjumper Ben Maher is at the top of the Longines FEI World Showjumping Rankings for the first time after a very successful few months.

The Olympic gold medallist moved up 18 places in the rankings, achieving the prestigious title following several wins including the London leg of the Global Champions Tour, the King George V Gold Cup at Hickstead’s Longines Royal International Horse Show, and individual silver and team gold at the European Championships.

27-year old Scott Brash, Ben’s teammate, has moved up from rank 25 into the top 10 for the first time, and is now ranked at number 9.

Nick Skelton has dropped out of the top 10 to position 18. Nick is unable to compete at the second leg of the showjumping Rolex Grand Slam in Calgary due to the stallion, Big Star, throwing a splint.

Number two position goes to America’s Beezie Madden, with Marcus Ehning from Germany in third.
