GB event rider Laura Collett seriously injured in fall

British event rider Laura Collett's condition has been described as 'stable' after she remained in intensive care following a fall.

Collett, 23, was left seriously ill on Monday after the incident at Tweseldown Racecourse, Hampshire, in the British Eventing Horse Trials.

A statement on her official website  read: "Laura had a comfortable night and remains in a stable condition.

"Her family appreciate all the support from friends and well wishers."

Wiltshire-based Collett has been training legendary racehorse Kauto Star in dressage following the record-breaking steeplechaser's retirement last year.

The incident comes as racing jockey Brian Toomey is in an induced coma in hospital after surgery to reduce swelling on his brain following a fall at Perth racecourse on Thursday.
