Horse dies after being dragged by a 4x4

The RSPCA is investigating a horrific incident involving a white 4x4 Mitsubishi in Cleckheaton which caused a horse to be killed.

A post mortem is being carried out on the bay cob-type colt which died after the incident. Police believe the animal was chased by the vehicle and then tied to it until it collapsed after being dragged around the field.

Two men are believed to have entered privately owned fields off Maizebrook Avenue and Kilroyd Drive in Hunsworth on Saturday between 11am and 1pm.

Two individuals from the Middleton area of Leeds have been arrested and released on police bail in connection with the incident.
