Yesterday’s show jumping unfortunately saw Team GB finish on a total of 13 faults, and in 12th place overall. Only the top eight teams go through to the next round, so this sadly see’s our London 2012 team gold medallists. At the forefront of the team standings are The USA, Germany, Brazil and the Netherlands who are all on scores of zero.

A refusal, as well as having several poles down around the course, plus time faults, meant that John Whitaker and Ornellaia, who finished on a final score of 23 faults putting them out of the rest of The Games.

However Ben, Nick and Michael had all qualified as individuals, but after a suspected case of colic yesterday, Michael Whitaker has withdrawn Cassionato from the remainder of the Rio Olympics.

Our two remaining riders will jump from 14:00 (BST) today, with the aim of finishing in the top 35 to qualify for the individual final on Friday, at which point all combinations will be given the opportunity to start on zero faults. Nick will be eighth into the arena, and Ben ninth.
