The West End cast of the global phenomenon MAMMA MIA! will appear by special arrangement and join the party at Horse of the Year Show’s (HOYS) spectacular celebration of equestrian sport as its finale on Sunday 9th October.

Every year ‘The World’s Most Famous Horse Show’ provides a spectacle of entertainment and MAMMA MIA! will be right at home performing to the 9,500 strong audience, all ready to lift the roof of the Andrews Bowen International Arena to the much-loved and irresistible sounds of ABBA.

From West End hit to global phenomenon, MAMMA MIA! has been seen by more than 60 million people worldwide. MAMMA MIA! continues to thrill audiences in London’s West End at the Novello Theatre where it is celebrating 18 years and there is also a UK Tour.  MAMMA MIA!  The Movie is the highest grossing live action musical of all time.  Its international acclaim, sunny atmosphere and feel-good factor will make it the perfect accompaniment to the final night at HOYS. MAMMA MIA!  continues to play in London's West End at the Novello Theatre.

Throughout the week, visitors will have enjoyed watching top National and International riders go head to head in the Showjumping, the very best of national showing and an array of stunning entertainment from the crowd favourite Puissance to another theatrical debut, Vulcanium – Dreams of Fire by Gilles Fortier; combining dance, theatre and circus performances with fire, pyrotechnics and modern effects. It’s going to be an adrenaline pumping ride at this year’s Show and the cast of MAMMA MIA! will have the audience dancing in the aisles.

Thousands of competitors try and qualify for HOYS every year and for the few that make it, every one of them has their own feel good story to tell. Creator and producer of MAMMA MIA!  the stage show and the film Judy Craymer developed a love for horses at a young age and was a keen showjumper herself. She is passionate about the sport and became an Ambassador for British Showjumping in 2011. Judy believes in bringing out the fun in the sport and making it accessible to all, something which will be echoed so brilliantly when she brings her hugely successful production to HOYS for one night only. Judy said: “It is absolutely thrilling that the London cast of MAMMA MIA! Is going to take part in the finale of Horse of the Year Show.  MAMMA MIA! is joyful and heart-warming and we’re so excited to share a small glimpse of the Show with everyone at HOYS.  What a fantastic evening of celebration it’s going to be”

Helena Pettit, Managing Director of Grandstand Media which organises Horse of the Year Show added, “Judy had mentioned MAMMA MIA! performing at HOYS as an opportunity a couple of Years ago.  For it to come to fruition is hugely exciting”.  “Our audience is passionate, loyal and engaged and MAMMA MIA! is the perfect accompaniment to our show finale which celebrates the champion of champions, and the culmination of another competitive year. We share Judy’s passion and HOYS offers a fantastic window into equestrian competitive sport and displays.  The MAMMA MIA! performance will delight the crowd and I cannot wait to watch it.
